Lusitaniagás – Companhia de Gás do Centro, S.A., public service operator for natural gas distribution in the Central Region, was established on January 30th 1992 and signed the concession contract with the Portuguese State on December 16th 1993.
The Lusitaniagás concession covers 38 municipalities in the Central Coast geographical area, 32 of which already possess a built network.
From the outset, Lusitaniagás developed its project oriented towards people and the environment. Therefore, its main concern is the quality of the service it provides to its customers, with the least possible environmental impact, providing them with a natural gas distribution service under the best quality and safety conditions.
In 2001, Lusitaniagás obtained a certification for its Quality Management System under Standard ISO 9001, and for its Environmental Management System under Standard ISO 14001. In 2004, it obtained the certification of its Occupational Health and Safety Management System according to Standard NP 4397.
Through a public tender, Lusitaniagás was awarded the concession for the Distribution of Natural Gas in the Central Region for a period of 35 years (until 2028).
